To evaluate pathologic results and complications of percutaneous needle biopsy on kidney in adults, we examnined 53 cases of renal biopsy, which were performed in Kon-Kuk university, Min-joong Hospital during a period of 2 years.
Renal tissues were obtained in 52 cases(98.1%) of 53 biopsies and the tissues contained glomeruli in 51 cases(96.2%), and the tissues which have no glomeruli were 2 cases(3.8%).
No significant complications including real infection, severe hematuria were not observed, but severe flank pain was noted in one case(1.8%).
IgA Nephropathy was the most common pathologic finding(19 cases, 35.8%), and Minima change nephrotic syndrome(8 case, 15.0%), Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis(5 cases 9.4%), Membranous nephropathy(1 case, 1.8%), Hypertensive nphrosclerosis(4
cases,
7.5%), Dibetic nephropathy(3 cases, 3.7%), End stage kidney(1 case, 1.8%) Korean hemorrhagic fever(1 case,
1.8%) were oberved.
